Kurt Schwitters

Dadaist, Constructivist, Surrealist

Constructivism: An artistic and architectural philosophy which originated in 1919 Russia. It rejected the notion of autonomous art and encouraged art which addresses social issues. It played a part in shaping the Russian revolution and addressing topics such as consumerism.  

Schwitters worked with poetry, sound, painting, sculpture, graphic design, typography and installation art.
